When You Divorce Me

Haha... I'm not the one getting a divorce aight... this is an article that I came across while reading my friend Hwei Huey's blog, who got it from some forwarded email. I don't know about u, but I had tears reading it through. Maybe I'm too emo. Or you're too heartless. Blekz =P we'll see... Enjoy...

When You Divorce Me, Carry Me Out in Your Arms

On my wedding day, I carried my wife in my arms. The bridal car stopped in front of our one-room flat. My buddies insisted that I carry her out of the car in my arms. So I carried her into our home. She was then plump and shy. I was a strong and happy bridegroom.

This was the scene ten years ago.

The following days were as simple as a cup of pure water: we had a kid; I went into business and tried to make more money. When the assets were steadily increasing, the affection between us seemed to ebb (decline). She was a civil servant. Every morning we left home together and got home almost at the same time. Our kid was studying in a boarding school.

Our marriage life seemed to be enviably happy. But the calm life was more likely to be affected by unpredictable changes.

Dew came into my life.

It was a sunny day. I stood on a spacious balcony. Dew hugged me from behind. My heart once again was immersed in her stream of love. This was the apartment I bought for her.

Dew said, "you are the kind of man who best draws girls' eyeballs." Her words suddenly reminded me of my wife. When we were just married, my wife said, "Men like you, once successful, will be very attractive to girls."

Thinking of this, I became somewhat hesitant. I knew I had betrayed
my wife. But I couldn't help doing so.

I moved Dew's hands aside and said, "you go select some furniture, ok? I've got something to do in the company."

Obviously she was unhappy, because I had promised to do it together with her. At the moment, the idea of divorce became clearer in my mind although it used to be something impossible to me.

However, I found it rather difficult to tell my wife about it. No matter how mildly I mentioned it to her, she would be deeply hurt.

Honestly, she was a good wife. Every evening she was busy preparing dinner.

I would be sitting in front of the TV. The dinner was ready soon. Then we watched TV together. Or, I was lounging before the computer, visualizing Dew's body. This was the means of my entertainment.

One day I said to her in a slightly joking way, "suppose we divorce, what will you do?" She stared at me for a few seconds without a word. Apparently she believed that divorce was something too far away from her. I couldn't imagine how she would react once she got to know I was serious.

When my wife went to my office, Dew had just stepped out. Almost all the staff looked at my wife with a sympathetic eye and tried to hide something while talking to her. She seemed to have got some hint. She gently smiled at my subordinates. But I read some hurt in her eyes.

Once again, Dew said to me, "He Ning, divorce her, ok? Then we live together." I nodded. I knew I could not hesitate any more.

When my wife served the last dish, I held her hand. "I've got something to tell you," I said. She sat down and ate quietly. Again I observed the hurt in her eyes. Suddenly I didn't know how to open my mouth. But I had to let her know what I was thinking. I want a divorce. I raised the serious topic calmly.

She didn't seem to be annoyed by my words, instead she asked me softly, "why?" I avoided her question. This so-called answer made her angry. She threw away the chopsticks and shouted at me, "you are not a man!"

That night, we didn't talk to each other. She was weeping. I knew she wanted to find out what had happened to our marriage. But I could hardly give her a satisfactory answer, because my heart had gone to Dew.

With a deep sense of guilt, I drafted a divorce agreement which stated that she could own our house, our car, and 30% stake of my company. She glanced at it and then tore it into pieces. I felt a pain in my heart. The woman who had been living ten years with me would become a stranger one day. But I could not take back what I had said.

Finally she cried loudly in front of me, which was what I had expected to see. To me her cry was actually a kind of release. The idea of divorce which had obsessed me for several weeks seemed to be firmer and clearer.

Late that night, I came back home after entertaining my clients. I saw her writing something at the table. I fall asleep fast. When I woke up, I found she was still there. I turned over and was asleep again.

She brought up her divorce conditions: she didn't want anything from me, but I was supposed to give her one month's time before divorce, and in the month's time we must live as normal a life as possible. Her reason was simple: our son would finish his summer vacation a month later and she didn't want him to see our marriage was broken.

She passed me the agreement she drafted, and then asked me, "He Ning, do you still remember how I entered our bridal room on the wedding day?" This question suddenly brought back all those wonderful memories to me.

I nodded and said, "I remember."

"You carried me in your arms," she continued, "so, I have a requirement, that is, you carry me out in your arms on the day when we divorce. From now to the end of this month, you must carry me out from the bedroom to the door every morning."

I accepted with a smile. I knew she missed those sweet days and wished to end her marriage romantically.

I told Dew about my wife's divorce conditions. She laughed loudly and thought it was absurd. "No matter what tricks she does, she has to face the result of divorce," she said scornfully. Her words more or less made me feel uncomfortable.

My wife and I hadn't had any body contact since my divorce intention was explicitly expressed. We even treated each other as a stranger. So when I carried her out on the first day, we both appeared clumsy. Our son clapped behind us, "daddy is holding mummy in his arms!" His words brought me a sense of pain.

From the bedroom to the sitting room, then to the door, I walked over ten meters with her in my arms. She closed her eyes and said softly, "Let us start from today, don't tell our son." I nodded, feeling somewhat upset. I put her down outside the door. She went to wait for a bus, I drove to the office.

On the second day, both of us acted much more easily. She leaned on my chest. We were so close that I could smell the fragrance of her blouse. I realized that I hadn't looked at this intimate woman carefully for a long time. I found she was not young any more. There were some fine wrinkles on her face.

On the third day, she whispered to me, "the outside garden is being demolished. Be careful when you pass there."

On the fourth day, when I lifted her up, I seemed to feel that we were still an intimate couple and I was holding my sweetheart in my arms. The visualization of Dew became vague.

On the fifth and sixth day, she kept reminding me something, such as, where she put the ironed shirts, I should be careful while cooking, etc. I nodded. The sense of intimacy was even stronger. I didn't tell Dew about this.

I felt it was easier to carry her. Perhaps the everyday workout made me stronger. I said to her, "It seems not difficult to carry you now." She was picking her dresses. I was waiting to carry her out. She tried quite a few but could not find a suitable one. Then she sighed, "all my dresses have grown bigger." I smiled. But I suddenly realized that it was because she was thinner that I could carry her more easily, not because I was stronger. I knew she had buried all the bitterness in her heart. Again, I felt a sense of pain. Subconsciously I reached out a hand to touch her head.

Our son came in at the moment. "Dad, it's time to carry mum out," he said. To him, seeing his father carrying his mother out had been an essential part of his life. She gestured our son to come closer and hugged him tightly. I turned my face because I was afraid I would change my mind at the last minute. I held her in my arms, walking from the bedroom, through the sitting room, to the hallway. Her hand surrounded my neck softly and naturally. I held her body tightly, as if we came back to our wedding day.

But her much lighter weight made me sad.

On the last day, when I held her in my arms I could hardly move a step.

Our son had gone to school. She said, "actually I hope you will hold me in your arms until we are old."

I held her tightly and said, "both you and I didn't notice that our life lacked intimacy."

I jumped out of the car swiftly without locking the door. I was afraid any delay would make me change my decision. I walked upstairs. Dew opened the door. I said to her, "Sorry, Dew, I won't divorce. I'm serious."

She looked at me, astonished. The she touched my forehead. "You got no fever," she said. I moved her hand off my head. "Sorry Dew," I said, "I can only say sorry to you, I won't divorce. My marriage life was boring because she and I didn't value the details of life, not because we didn't love each other any more. Now I understand that since I carried her into the home, she gave birth to our child, I am supposed to hold her until I am old. So... I have to say sorry to you... because I cant leave her."

Dew seemed to suddenly wake up. She gave me a loud slap and then slammed the door and burst into tears. I walked downstairs and drove to the office.

When I passed the floral shop on the way, I ordered a bouquet for my wife which was her favorite. The salesgirl asked me what to write on the card.

I smiled and wrote, "I'll carry you out every morning until we are old."

My 1st E-Bay Buyer

Current Mood : Better, much better
Song In Head : Zac Efron - Bet On It ( High School Musical 2 )
Study : None since my last post ? * sheepish grin *

Muahaha... finally! I have a buyer in e-bay... yippeee...

Oh for your info (FYI)... Charmine Tung... out of desperation... resort to selling her stuff in e-bay to get fast cash. N she had did some trading of buying books at a cheaper price according to prospect buyers' need and then selling it to 'em at a profit.

As I've said before, beggars can't be choosers. Plus beggars can't live a luxurious life. So... I put up on e-bay my collectables and some souvenirs that I really liked. Hey, if u don't sell likeable stuff, they might not market, right? Huuu huuu.... I was really reluctant to put up my French Connection winter skirt ( the one I bought from Salvation Army on my birthday about a week ago ). But no brand, no talk la.

Anyway... I'm sorry I can't disclose what I had sold off d... it's personal & too xin tong liao... I hope you guys understand what I'm going through...

Beside e-bay, I got a couple of buyers for some trading stuff and I'm gonna meet them the next few days to barter off. Don't worry, I made sure I meet my buyers at a public and relatively safe place. If I'm unsure of the person, I'll give the details of my arrangement to a friend so if anything bad happens to me, at least they know where to lead the CSI crew... Hehe...

Hana hana I will take care of myself la, don't worry. There are so many more people out there risking their life just to survive and more chi cham than me, like those poverty-stricken refugees in Africa & Afghanistan, so I can't be a big baby and sit around lamenting about my problems.

CHARMINE BOLEH !

Tomorrow meeting my 1st buyer. Woohoo... Wish me luck !

Love ya !

Of Being Broke & Bonkers

Current Mood : Downcast

Song In Head : Backstreet Boys – Inconsolable

Study : Started 12 pages on P1 Professional Accountant. Hooray ! This is the earliest I've ever start studying for exams. 6 weeks till final. Hmm..

Now that all the celebration n hoo-hahs are over, it's time to sink-in to reality. I'm still broke and I have only £20 in my bank account. N some lose cash. I went to the restaurants & shops near my house to ask for a job. Yes looking for job 6 weeks into my finals. But aiya there are no vacancies at the mo. Die la… Fikiran dah buntu ni !

This is no laughing matter. Looking at the situation, my hopes of applying for post-graduate studies after this exam seemed like a dying rose slipping through my fingers. With thorns cutting flesh as spine grinded against skin. Hah. Masters. Dream on la charm. No money no talk. Scholarships at this level ain't easy wo.

I should just be contented with ACCA. After all, it IS a higher qualification than an MBA. Equivalent to Masters wo. Thing is, employers here tend to look for uni students, my guess is that they've gone through what I refer to as "uni-life". That's the main reason I wanted to study a Masters. I could apply for CFA like what my dad had planned. Investment banking, financial analysis etc might be what I'm moving towards, not auditing nor accountancy. For the record aku BENCI accounts.

I really did gave CFA a lot of thought. In charm's context, "a-lot-of-thought" for anything to do with studies and serious matter is counted a lot d, k? More than day-dreaming la. JL had helped a lot in sourcing out info of CFA and we actually planned to take it, either that or some Masters program... but now I think I'd better put my studies on hold until my family's financial situation shed some light. I hope things will get better. I really need to get some money to repay ZH, pay rent & bills. Crap I need £700 just for that. WITHOUT any allowance at all for food & necessities. Seriously this is no joke. I think I can survive on biscuits and whatever crap I have in my kitchen for the time being.

I still believe God will provide. He alwiz will.

Thanks for reading another rant of mine. Love ya.

Another Lovely Birthday Surprise

Ah. I'm such a lucky girl to have such great frenz. Last sun, the 21st Oct, 4 days after me birthday... I had another birthday surprise =)

At 1st, my new friends from Malaysia, Vithya, Junie, Jun Li and I had planned to go Satay House in Paddington to try out some yummy satay and other scrumptious malaysian dishes. Apparently, the place was very famous wo... Listed with good comments on zee London Time Out - Eating & Drinking Guide 2007 . But erm... we didn't think of calling earlier to book, so when we went there, it was fully booked liao. Aiya...

Thing is... I didn't know that they had planned to surprise me with presents and a cake... We all then pa-pa lang went to Bayswater to hunt for food, it being 2.30pm and our stomachs are crying for mercy. The hunt for food continued till we spotted a Thai restaurant named Tuk Tuk.

Ahh home ground... reminded me of how much I missed my parent's Thai dishes. My mom makes zeee world's BEST Thai Green Curry & Claypot Tanghoon. Look at the yummy food that we ordered. Thai Green Curry Chicken ( still cant beat mom ), Thai Fried Rice, Malaysian Koay Teow, Chinese Style Mushroom...

Asian food cooked in London

can never beat the original taste, no?

Anyway here's when zee surprise starts... when we had finished zee food... the waitress cleared everything and then started giving out dessert plates. I was thinking maybe they're giving us free desserts or stg...

Then suddenly...

Another waitress brought out a cake with candles...

I was like... no it cant be, can it?

N she laid it in front of me...

=) bingo !

Birthday Surprise

What a 180 degree flip my birthday yesterday turns out to be =)

charm in new tube top hugging zee pillow
* dark suave voice* Good morning Angel
* sweet enthusiastic reply * Good morning Charlie !

At 1st, I was staying at home after cancelling everything ( Newcastle, Manchester, Turkish dinner, clubbing, cake, shopping ). No money ma. ( Read previous blogs then u'll understand. ). A boring day was anticipated.

My dad & grandfather called in the morning to wish me HAPPY BIRTHDAY . I'm a daddy's girl. Alwiz have, alwiz will =) I love u pops. I love u too, yeh yeh... ( which means grandpa in cantonese. ) My dad told me to go buy my birthday prezzie, using his credit card. =D Thanks pops ! But sorry pa, I cant use your credit card. Not when you need it more than I do.

Amman kept calling the whole day to wish me Happy Birthday again n again. Yarr aren't u the sweetest thang? Wore my new tube top given by James and my dark brown jacket given by Burcu. Head on to Subways to meet Amman where he treated me to a Subway thingy. I duno what u called it. Anyway. Chat awhile but he gotta continue working. Thing that made me smile was " Can you stay here awhile and look pretty for me? " =) Thx Yarrrrr... HUGGSSS~~

I then head on to the Salvation Army near my house to shop for 2nd hand clothes. Earlier I had korek out the coins I have. Muahahha go clear your cupboard. It's amazing how much coins u can collect. Sikit-sikit lama-lama jadi bukit. Got myself second-hands of a Topshop pink cardigan and a French Connection checked winter skirt. All for only £4. Beggars cant be choosers, no? That's what my mom alwiz say. The cashier was amused at the coins I presented to him. Didn't use my dad's card. Tell u a secret. I sometimes buy 2nd hand clothes. So what? Cant afford branded new ones wert. That's y u see I have a lot of over-sized winter jackets. Cheap, Comfy & Warm.

There. It's ok if you're disgusted at me. It happens.

Anyway, I was heading back home, then upstairs in my room, organizing my lecture notes ( Note the 'organizing' , not studying ) when I heard voices downstairs. Thinking it might be the guests which my landlady had for these 2 nites, I didn't bother checking.

N then 10 mins later I heard " Charmine ! Come downstairs ! "

*Pitter patter of charm's feet down the steps*

" SURPRISE !! "

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU....
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOUUUUU....
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TOOO CHARMINNNNEEEE ~~
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOUUU........

Ahhhhh Thank you guys ! Pei Sian & Jun Li, I love u both sooo sooo much !

I seriously thought you'll not be doing anything when I busted on your plan yesterday and said just cancelled it for the day.

cutting zee tiramisu cake

Ohhh you guys shouldn't have wasted money and all... London's so expensive ! But thank you very very much from the bottom of my heart ! MUAHHH !~!

We makan-ed zee lovely Tiramisu cafe latte. Ah... Bliss. N then chit chat about politics & economy. Haha.... How predictable of us ACCA nerds. Nevertheless, I had fun. We all did. =)

Thank you so much guys !

zee lovely presents =)

Whoop de dooop ~~ Plus another reason to celebrate... Today, Carphone Warehouse text me to say that they had approved of my cash back. Actually I sent the application 2 months late but they still accept it. Yay ! I'll be getting back some money within 30 days.

It's amazing how God works miracles. I had never expected Carphone to accept my application, I just prayed and hoped. I'm not exaggerating any of this btw... Praise God ! This really testifies His great works =) WOW.

Amazing Grace, How sweet the sound
That save a wretched like me
I once was lost, But now am found
Was blind, But now I SEE...
AMEN !

Happy Birthday Charm

Lookin at the clock, it's 4am. 4 hours into my special day... Funny I don't feel anything special at all. Bahh. I'm such a dope. Friends online in MSN wishing well wishes and asking what's my plan for the day. Malaysia's awake now while some crazy Londoners are still up at this hour. Hmm sounds familiar.

Anyway. Basically. I have no plan. Well I did. If u read my previous blog, I had loads of birthday plans. Trip to Newcastle, Manchester, York, dinner etc. But I absolutely have no mood to melaksanakan any of it now. I cant be a spoiled brat and demand this-that since I'm very low on liquidity. I cancelled everything once I found out I cant receive my allowance on time. Besides, I cant go home in Dec anymore and I'm officially virtually broke.

I found out Pei Sian & Jun Li had wanted to get a birthday cake n surprise me but I busted their plan. At 1st I agreed on a dinner with some other classmates which PS had planned secretly but nahh... since not everyone can make it, and I'm not in the mood anyway, let's just cancel the plan. Stay at home n be miserable. Wait. START STUDYING. Eew study on my birthday? Start studying at all? Finals less than 2 months wo. If I really wanna graduate this Dec and be an ACCA graduate at 20, I have to.

What happened 4 hrs ago from my last post? Ok this sounds mysteriously weird. I duno about you, but the question freaked me out. Prob coz I'm alone in the kitchen right now in the middle of a cold foggy nite. With weird cat moanings and water running outside. I wondered what happened. N time had passed so mysteriously fast. Calm down Charm. Chill baby.

Let's think straight.... U had talked to God. Chat with people. Friends calling in. Texts. MSN. The whole usual lot. Ok ok I got my memory back. Again I had offers of help from my 2 exs Billy & Darvin. Thanks guys. Darv even wanted to email his guardian in the UK to help me out. Darv used to study high school here so he knows some ppl. Thankxx Darv. I really appreciate everything. N to zee wonderful readers, sorry if I had sounded like I'm trying to brag or stg. It's not like that. Really wan la...

4am. Reminds me of the song 4 In The Morning by Gwen Stefani. One of my favs. Sad ballad. "Stayed up till 4 in the morning & the tears are pouring & I want to make it worth the fight..." How suitable huh.

Wait now it's almost 4.30am. Which brings me to another fav song. Come To Me by P Diddy & Nicole Sherzinger of Pussycat Dolls. Yeah I think you all can recognise as my ringtone for the Summer Hols in Pg.

The video clip was like..
Alarm rings "It's 4.30am. Please wake up."
Nokia ringtone on P Diddy's hp.
Girlfriend picks up.
"Hello? Yeah... He'll be there"
Music starts.
"It's bad boy b*tch... Do it to it.."

What am I doing? I should be memorising ACCA notes. Not MTV clips.
Plus I should go to sleep. But I'm not sleepy. Maybe I'll just go lie in bed. Yeah I should. Nitez. Or Good Morning Malaysia.

Last Few Moments As A Teen

In a few mins time I'll be officially 20. I should be celebrating. Or at least be happy. Wait... Smile will do...

But I simply cant. Not with what I'm going through. But hey... God had definitely help me since my last post. ZH had helped to pay for 2 subjects of my QBD. Ok this could be a reason for a faint grin. =) Now I only need to hunt another £170 for the 3rd paper.

Lots of friends had offered to lend me money, esp after reading my blog yesterday, but I didn't wanna accept coz I wanna count on myself. Besides, I dunno when I could get the money to pay 'em back. Thank you so much, I really appreciate all the offer...

Amman wanted to borrow from couple of friends to pull enough money for me. Thankx Yarr ( which means friend in Urdu ) but I cant let u do that. My ex Billy had came online and ask me what's wrong. He offered to send money to me from Qatar. Ya he's working there now as a cabin crew. He was really persistent to send and in the end, I gave in coz I'm kinda desperate. But a call to Zi Hur asking the procedures for money transfer lead him to lending me instead. Billy was offended that I took from ZH and not him. They're not in good terms you see. Let's just put it this way that boyfriends and guy bestfriends hardly get along.

Thank you so much, ZH... I would repay u as soon as my parents get the money to transfer to me. HUGSS... I'm glad I have a best pal like you...

Was on my way to Tesco to get some groceries this afternoon when my family called. It was 5 pm here. 12am Malaysian time. They wished me Happy Birthday and insisted it was the right time to call, since I was born in Malaysia so I should follow their time. Cute la... *smile* After a round of well wishes, I was dawned on another bad news : My Ah Ee's back-bone hurts a lot and might need to go for operation. You see, she alwiz cooks and cleans for my family. And my family cooks for the church sunday lunch so she's very handy with cooking large portions but now I guess it's gonna be a feat on my stressed up parents. Even so, I'm worried for my Ah Ee's health. My sis said that my great grandmother's health is deteriorating too. Haih... what can I do?

I cant celebrate and rejoice at this moment. I simply cant. You know, I'm the type of person who wants occasions & moments to be special & memorable. Things have to be special for the capturing of the moment. Naturally, I had wanted to make this birthday BIG. 20th birthday wo. End of teens and beginning of num 2 in front of your age.
  • I had planned to go Newcastle last weekend for the pre-birthday celebration.
  • Then dinner on zee big day at the Turkish restaurant that Burcu works in, which I happened to know the waiters there (whom also happens to be very good-looking Mediterranean guys). Then probably head on clubbin in the West End.
  • End of the month travel up to Manchester again to meet up with friends in their college trip to York to see the Vikings Festival.
You tell me macam mana I tergamak laksanakan any of it with the current situation I'm in?

Lookin at the clock, I'm left with about 10 mins before my special day begins. I never dread the coming of birthday like I do now. Coz I cant even make it special for myself. Text messages wishing well wishes come flooding in. Plus the whole lot of MSN, FS n Facebook. Somehow that managed to put a smile on my face. Sorry if I sound braggy. Didn't mean to. But Thank you, dear friends. I'm glad I have u all.

I wanna spend the last few minutes of my teens in prayer with God. That's the thing that seems soothing now. I better go. Bye.

Status : Broke & Desperate

I'm broke.
Some people meant it metaphorically. Or just as a figure of speech or a joke. Charm? Literally.

Haih... Let me explain to you... I have allowance of only £500 ( RM 3,500 ) per month, including rent, bills, phone usage, food, necessities etc.

But then you might think, I thought u had scholarship wert... Senang la... It's not that simple ler... I applied for the one that sponsors only the course tuition fees, but not my expenses etc. If I wanted sponsorship for everything then I would be bonded by the company. My parents decided they could support on my monthly expenses part, therefore I picked the one without bonding. I would have to pay 1st and then they reimburse us. Getting free education is not easy I tell you.

But thing is, honestly, my family is just an average-income family. My parents cant afford to put one big lump sum of money into my bank account over here to survive through the year, like some other overseas student. My mom would send me money every month to sustain me through until I run out of cash again. And everytime I do, do you know how hard it is to ask from my parents money, knowing they're so tight on liquidity? I felt like such a big burden on my family. I had quit on my job and finding a new one less than 2 months before my finals is kinda like suicide. Besides, no one's gonna hire me if I start and quit before the exams...

Earlier, our family had thought that we could pull through it all coz my dad's 1 year plus of project work would finally be paid off. But now the stingy-wicked-mean-ol' client of my dad refuse to pay up my dad's commission. A year's pay gone just like that. Like WTF?? This client is such a rich company director and a prominent shareholder in some big Malaysian companies but cant honour his side of the payment? My fren and I had googled bout this fella and guess what, he's on the Sultan of Kedah's birthday list of honours. HONOUR MY FOOT. He's the least person on the list to deserve the honours. Exploiting sole businessman like my dad.

I SO WANNA SCREAM OUT LOUD.... AAAAHHHHHHHHH

My bank account is less than £50 as of today. Probably could survive for another week or so. This means I have to ask for money again... It really is a burdening request everytime... I just talked to my family on skype. My mom was really in a bad mood coz she cant find £510 in time for me to pay for my QBD Fees. I don't mind not having money for expenses.. I can surely dig up something. I just need to pay for this QBD.

Feel so pek cek & frust being so far away and cant help out. If I'm back home in Pg, I'll go up to that bloke's office and demand him to pay up. Probably flex my muscle. N show my mean face. Think I'm scared ah ? Come la !

Haih... that's such an impulsive childish thinking. If it's really that simple my dad would've gotten the money earlier la. Law suit settlement would antagonise the situation. How can I fight against such a powerful fella? I cant even get pass his bodyguards la.... I admit I had cried a lot thinking about the whole thing. Luckily I had darvin n wei xin to comfort me. Thx guys.... I was trying to brain storm how I'm gonna pay for my QBD. Well, God had promised that he'll provide. So I put my full trust in Him.

Lord, give us today our daily bread... Your grace is sufficient for me... I trust you'll do what's best for us Lord... I trust fully in you mighty Heavenly Father... Pull us through this crisis Lord... Please do not forsake us your children... I ask all these in the name of our Saviour and for His sake. Amen.

The Ultimatum - Charm Won't Be Back For Christmas Or CNY

Yes u heard it right. I can't go home this Winter 07/08 coz my family cant afford it.

I actually have an open ticket which I could use to come home before 31st Dec. But if I DO fly home, I would need to buy another ticket back to London, which is about RM 3k plus. The open ticket is already a sunk cost, i.e. past expenditure so my parents had decided to forgo it, so they wouldn't have to dig out another RM 3k for the flight back. =(

I admit I had went back to Penang twice this year, so I shouldn't be such a spoiled brat demanding to fly home I guess...

My 1st flight home in March was to attend my CAT Foundation Graduation ( which IPG had conveniently missed out my sem's batch, and even postponed the ceremony till April, when I'm already back in London ). Although I had managed to buy really cheap air ticks for this one, but still... You can imagine my frustations at the wasted flight.

2nd flight home during Summer Hols, was made in an impulse coz of personal reasons. I literally worked like mad to save money for this flight home. My close friends would know how I agree to almost every job offer, even on late night shifts just to earn the cash for my flight. Wei when I said I'd accept almost anything, pls don't luan-luan think k? I have my own PRINCIPLES and I won't go that far just to get some money.

Anyway... it's not like I don't have any friends here to enjoy with. But it's just not the same. I came to London not knowing anybody. No relatives, No friends. Nobody. I started everything from scratch. I DO have friends in other parts of England but they're all so far away from London, the capital city.

I made plenty of new friends here, from all over the world. N my new life here begins. I've gone through ups and downs, mostly by myself. N God. I was so naive with life before this. Not fully grasping at the fact that there's such a WHOLE BIG WORLD out there and lots of different kinds of people. Tell u honestly, guys here just wanna bed u, esp those u meet in clubs. How lucky I was to escape again and again. I never did learn my lesson last time but now I do. God was gracious and faithful to protect me from harm. He made me wiser, more alert. Don't worry, nothing awful happened to me.

Studying abroad does widen your perspective and outlook on life huh... You cant stay forever in a nutshell. So many stuff still goes on around you everywhere in the world so you cant be an ignorant dong-dong like I was. But don't worry, I'm still the same ol' Charm, just that : -

  • more matured but not fully
  • more of the confidence touch
  • more cheeky =)
  • more aware of my surroundings
  • more simple towards life
  • wiser? I hope
  • less childish ( Nooooo I want the kid in me back... )
  • less logging on to Friendster ( Please for goodness sake it's over-rated! )
  • less Facebook-ing as well
  • less fussy ( Was I ever one? Hehe... )
  • no more Prison Break
  • no more Heroes
  • no more movies

Haha... That's about it all I guess. Anyway i gotta go now... laundry awaits charm... catcha later!

Tribute to my Beloved Burcu

Charm & Burcu darling

My room-mate n party partner Burcu has finally moved out yesterday, after being roomies for 3 months... Awwww.... So sad... Being the hopeless sentimental freak that I am, I cant help feeling like there's a cloud hanging above my head today.

Burcu before the dyeing-hair-operation.

Hair colouring and getting ready to hit da club !

Doesn't she look so sweet? Sigh... before I moved here, I was worried we're not gonna be compatible. You know how particular I could be at times. After a week of being room-mates with Burcu, who's from Turkey, I found out we have a lot in common ! We share the same opinion about fashion, guys, music and chocolates ! Oh how we would chat about our own relationship experiences and have girly pillow talk... Or try out clothes and have our own London Fashion Week. Che wah. Glamour leh... We absolutely love Zara, Topshop & Next. ( She can afford la coz she's working in GAP but I'm not =S ). We even go clubbin together. Over here in the UK, I only go to clubs IF there's someone I know for a long time is going with me, i.e. highly RARE. I don't go with any new college mates and that's why I'm a nerd-in-the-making in their eyes.

Burcu & Charm @ Walkabout

Burcu and I like the same type of music, esp Love Songs and R&B... We would alwiz play songs and be our own DJ in our room. Our favourite is Ayo Technology (She Wants It) by 50 Cent feat. Justin Timberlake & Timbaland. We'll play this song on You Tube and she'll be Fitty & I'm JT and we'll impersonate funny imitations of them.. "The smoke's got the club all hazy, spotlights don't do you justice baby..." - Our fav quote in the song. We love Ne-Yo as well... especially Because of You. "Baby you've become my addiction..." . We'll pretend we're Ne-Yo's girls and have girly fun ! When my fav songs are played on the radio, she'll remember and turn it louder.

Burcu & I on the bus on our way to a Turkish restaurant.

We're both the top 2 messiest babes around. Just take a look at our table. Hahaha...

I'll help her tidy up her stuff alwiz coz I know she'll be tired after work to clear it. She hangs my clothes and take them in if I'm out. She sometimes make nice Turkish food for me. I learn to eat many Turkish dishes. I esp like Dalma, which is stuffed food inside vine leaves. On her last night here, we had a romantic dinner in our kitchen with candles. I know she absolutely love 'em so I alwiz get her candles whenever I see pretty ones. Few days ago I got her a lavender rose as a parting gift and she got me a nice sling purse from Primark. Sigh... we even call each other darling, baby & dear... Ok now we sound so lesbo. LOL. C'mon, it's sisterly love. It's not everyday u getta bond with someone u've just met and click just like that. She offered to lend me money if I'm ever in need of cash coz she knows I have financial difficulty. I do offer her back coz I know she needs money to help pay for her new sem as well. Sigh isn't she the sweetest chum ?

Burcu ! I'm gonna miss u soo soo much ! Come visit us when you're free ! Love you baby =) Thanks for being such a great friend and room-mate ! Muakxxxx Hugs & Kisses alwiz
