There's a bunch of good news on the way…

1. First up, my great grandmother ( dad's father's mother) is not in critical condition anymore. She would be discharged soon, but still needs care 24/7, coz she might only have 1 or 2 months more… The left side of her body is paralysed coz of the severity of the internal brain bleeding and her age.. Despite all this, she is still very strong and know what is happening... I cant thank God enough for working miracles and I wanna thank all my friends too for the prayers & support =) HUGS..

Since both parents are working, sherleen started college, joycelyn n thomason schooling, plus we have no maid, we would have to put her in a nursing home. My parents plan to put her in the one next to Convent Green Lane Primary School (my alma mater), so it's closer to home.

U know what last night my mom gave me a miscall abruptly and I thought u know… dot dot dot… I was about to burst into tears and my hands were shaking when I dial the calling card pin num n then number home… whoa my mom really gave me a scare man. When she picked up I straight ask bout ah phak and she told me the good news. Pheww…

N she said the most touching thing… my ah phak requested her to help buy kuih kah pek aka love letters (a Chinese biscuit usually eaten in Chinese new year I think) for her to distribute, and remember to get a whole tin for ah mun (Me! Pui Mun is my Cantonese name). And she said, must save lots of nice cookies for ah mun, coz she must be missing these food a lot. Tears roll down super banyak wei… Sobzzz ah phak ur the sweetest person on earth… I miss u a lot…

2. I AM FLYING HOME FOR CHINESE NEW YEAR ON THE 31^ST JAN =) !! Thanks to Roshan's dad Uncle Murli, he got the extension for my open return ticket so yup, I'ma going home to see my great grandma!

3. PwC puts me for internship in May for 2 months, and if I am ready to work for them, I'll be transferred to being an associate, starting work in Kuala Lumpur, the capital city of Malaysia, on July 1. Yippie, if u guys have read my previous blog, u know what a blunder I had made, turning down the job offer. But God turned things around and I'm still on the list with this great firm, so yeap this is a miracle!

4. My sis sher is blending very well with her coursemates in college. At 1st, she was unsure which college to go to, which path to choose, and after enrolling, got worried coz most of them are chinese speaking, and she cant speak chinese to save her life lol… Btw she's in PTPL (The new name for IPG and yes that's my previous college). In Annexe C, taking A Levels. To all my PTPL friends, please help me look out for her, kiez… thankxx =)

5. The friendship between my best friend in London and I had gone better and we no longer have conflicts at the moment. He also stopped putting me as a source of teasing and sarcasm, mainly coz I'll be going back for good. =)

Last time, for example, if I point out the obvious, he would sarcastically go, "wow thanks for enlightening us miss tung, I didn't know bout that"

If I mis pronounced a word, like situation - "sit-too-ay-shen" instead of "sit-choo-way-shen", he'll call me tweety.

Or if I lose to him in running up the stairs, figuring out puzzles, staring game, any game, he would exclaim, "4 time champion!" and turned to me and smirk, "can u smell what The Rock is cooking ?"

Usually, walking around Leicester Square, our usual hang out place, we'll be girl watching, for example, 12 o'clock hottie heading ur way, 2 o'clock sexy brunette with smoky eyes. And since I don't watch guys, he'll go, 9 o'clock tall guy with suit, oriental guy 3 o'clock checking you out. Thing is, I don't respond much, so he'll hit me with, "seriously man your turning to a lesbian." I would smack him and he would go, "ouch your gigantic palm just landed on me" I would return with a, "FYI I'm as straight as can be, just not as 'hamsap' as u. N c'mon, you're so weak for a guy I could take u down any moment". N he would show his muscles and I would be like whatever...

(I had thought him that hamsap is pervert)

But he's a nice guy ok don't get me wrong. For example, just last week, when we're walking out of the restaurant, I was complaining cold and he was like, "just take my coat"… I went, "yarr don't be pagal k it's freakin cold" N he literally took off his winter coat and put on me. Everyone on the street was looking and I was kinda embarrassed but glad I have a bro like him, despite all the bickering. Dun get me wrong k, we're just good frenz.

So ladies… there's a good candidate here… QC-ed by Charm =).

6. What else? Yup I guess that's it.. Great grandma not in critical condition anymore, flying home soon, interns & job offer, great sis, great best friend… what more could I ask for?

My Great Grandmother

My great grandmother was admitted to the hospital today coz of stroke due to internal brain bleeding. She's 90 plus so it's dangerous to undergo surgery. The doctor said that now all we could do is hope for a miracle and that the bleeding stops and she'll recover soon. For someone who has internal bleeding, her responses to stimulations and surroundings are still good and she knows what is going on. But the doctor continued saying that we should contact all relatives to come visit her… just in case… you know…

Noooo… I'm the only one not being able to be there by her side… I feel so hopeless being so far away and not being able to contribute anything… Sobzz

Ah phak ( what I call her ) is a really strong lady and she has been the one come rushing and stopping my dad from hitting me or pushing me out of the house whenever I'm being naughty back then… she alwiz give us red packets for blessing, whenever we have exams, going for a trip, or any celebration whatsoever… although I do try to tell her that blessing comes from Christ…(she's still a Buddhist)

When she was much stronger few years back, she even cooks for my siblings and I when our parents are not around. Yes I'm not kidding... She's prolly in her late 80S or early 90s that time… She alwiz tells me to study hard and would like to see me wear the graduation robe someday. That would have been my Certified Accounting Technician grad ceremony if it wasn't for IPG who incidentally forgot my whole batch and our graduation.

I dunno if I can pass my final papers this sitting and have my ACCA graduation pictures to show her…

Stupid stupid IPG. Sobz I cant believe I'm having tears now. How can u people just forgot our graduation and said if we wanna have it the next year, we should write a letter. Such irresponsibility personified…

Sobbzzz sorry ah phak I cant even show u me graduating… I cant even return to see u soon….

I NEED TO GET A PLANE TICKET HOME TO SEE HER.

Sobzz… We have to pray for a miracle and I really need all of your prayers and support… I really do wanna see her for not only one last time, but many more along the road…

With worrying about this and my future in the UK, I dunno whether I should fly home in Feb and start working straight away for PwC and at the same time be closer to my great granny since KL and Penang is only 5 hours away by bus.

Hold on there ah phak… I'll figure out a way to see u soon… I love u sobzzz….

I really really hope she accepts Christ before u know… That way, I'll know her soul is saved. I'm sorry if any of you get offended but really, the only way to get salvation and eternal life after death is to believe that For God so love the world that He gave His only begotten son that whosoever should believe in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life, John 3:16

Lord please open up her heart Lord, let her accept you into her life. And Lord I know no doctors on earth could match ur omnipotent healing powers Lord. Take away this internal bleeding and pain in her, restore her and give her a new life again Lord. Lord also help me make the decision on my future career Lord. I leave it all unto your hands… I pray all this in the name of your son Jesus Christ and for his sake, Amen.

Btw Amit i got the call from PwC. I got the job =) . But since it's PwC Malaysia head-hunting in London, I would have to go back home n work. In Kuala Lumpur the capital city. But sobzz i cant leave London. Not now. I haven't even repay your kindness in being such a great friend during the exam periods. =(

I had requested the lady who called to put me under internship instead of permanent job. Reason why, coz I really wanna try to look for a job here. I mean, what's the point of studying ACCA here when i'm gonna head back home to work? The past one year in England has been whoa, a roller coaster ride for me and slowly I kinda got used to living in London now (can't believe I'm saying this!). The PwC lady wasn't too happy bout my requests but she still asked me when I wanna start the interns and I said after April 30th (my visa expires). I got myself an internship with PriceWaterHouse Coopers on May 5 2008.

1st bunch of people I called is of coz my family. But my parents said that if i'm not prepared to work in KL yet, then continue stay put where I am.

2nd person - My London best friend Amman. I actually texted instead of calling coz erm yesterday we had another argument again coz erm i sort of like shouted at him coz he was prying into my privacy and i didn't like it. He called immediately and we discussed about the job thingy and he said I shouldn't let go of this opportunity and i'm being so very silly. He then texted me at work saying that he was actually hoping i wouldn't get the job coz he didn't want me to leave this place.

My another best friend Zi Hur also said i should take it up, and like wow coz this is the 1st and only proper job I applied for and I got it and it's not just any firm, coz PwC is like the world's largest professional services firm. (And then he asked me to join him travel to norway for hols =D ). Though some friends said i should stay and find a job here... Altogether mixed opinions everywhere and i'm still contemplating my next step though...

And by the way, today i just found out that Jason Tay from IPG just arrived in the UK on the 12th. Hertfordshire. N then few hours later I found out that Benny Lee arrived on 14th. To London! Not forgeting the great news that Grace Leong is coming in Sept!

Wow everyone's heading here. More reason i shouldn't go back.

I know lately my MSN nick seems pretty confusing and I don't put song lyrics like I used to anymore. Thank you for all the thoughtful concern, friends… I really appreciate everything…. And thank you Austin for being such a great friend in times of dilemma. All the texts & calls must've burn a big whole in your wallet and i would never forget all the kind thoughts & prayers.

Since I'm in a calm mood now, and everything has gone back to normal, I wanna explain what has been going on. But I shall remain vague to protect the privacy of the people involved here. Che wah sounds cheem le…

Here goes nothing… (This is a VERY long post so if u dun feel like reading, you dun have to, okiez)

Well, 1^st up, I have a good friend, who now turned best friend in fact… you see… we used to debate about a lot of stuff, from religion to fashion to relationships, and compete against each other, even running up the stairs. And we'll laugh about it after that and that's it… I mean, that's what good friends do, right? Lately though, our arguments got more fired up, where both end up being pissed at each other.

The 1st ever big argument was in fact at the MACFIS AGM during my PwC interview. This good friend of mine got annoyed coz I seem to be spending more time with my other friends here and not with him. He tells me everything but I seem to forget to tell bout my stuff, even this interview. Ok close friends are suppose to share bout things going on, but I was caught up with exams and stuff and didn't have the time.. I got annoyed as well coz he chose to argue in the midst of my assessment n interview. Anyway we sorted it out in the end and were ok again.

Then there's a string of events going on, which put us on this roller coaster of friendship. I had ppk-ed (ditch or aborts the plan with someone) him couple of times and he gives me a nick name – DITCHER. When I get so annoyed at him, I block him in MSN. And crap he found out about this coz I'm such a bad liar, and now calls me a BLOCKER. Fine.

The latest big conflict was before he went off for the Arsenal vs Tottenham match at Emirates Stadium. He had came over to use the internet coz his apartment's connection has got problems. I don't wanna tell of the cause of the argument, but I guess I was kinda mean with my remarks and ultimatum, namely, "I don't need any advice from you, I can handle it all by myself!" or "Don't call me …. , just don't call me anything"

Ouch. That was harsh huh. And I showed him the way out and slammed the door behind him. (Ok, the door ter-slam by itself, but I was angry, so it's justified.)

Seriously, don't ever do that to your best friend when he's going to his fav football team's home game.

He texted and ask what's with me man… and then I was still mean and then Totthenham scored against Arsenal 1-0 and he got even more pissed. Thank God some great arsenal player equalized 1-1 or else I guess that's the final straw.

He apologized after the match and I did the same.

Today, we have our usual bickering about stuff, and as usual checked out guys/girls together. Last time I alwiz wanted to gay-anised him, so now he's trying to lesbian-ise me instead, so we could both check out girls together. Hah in your dreams la. He critised my NEW BOOTS although in fact it's actually beeyootiful and he just wanna annoy me like any brother would.

This is the moment my sis, sherleen has been waiting for… New Year Resolutions ! She alwiz wanted me to put "try being cool for once so I don't embarrass my sis with my royal lame-ness" as one of my Resolutions, but I never did wanna insert that clause in. But since she's been such a great sis and I miss her so terribly I have to somehow make way for this one… Here goes nothing… Enjoy!

Charm's New Year Resoliusion Rezolushon Resolution =)

1. Spend more time for God. I realized my quiet time with Him has been slacking, I haven't been reading my bible daily. Try to find more time for Prayer Meeting on Mondays, Bible Study on Wednesdays, Student Focus on Saturdays I think, doctrine class, student tea and evening service on Sundays. I shouldn't juz be satisfied with sun mornings.

2. Refrain from getting involved in a relationship or any form of love whatsoever till Oct 17 2008, aka my 21^st birthday. This is actually a 'carried forward pledge' from Aug 07… I got so sick of guys coz all they ever do is lie, flirt and wanna hit 2^nd base with you. Switching to being a lesbian is a definite no-no coz well, let's just say fruitcake is not my type. =D

3. Be mean, be very mean. I cant continue being a pathetic softie for goodness sake. Learn to SAY NO. Or "I don't like that."

4. Be cool so i don't exactly cause any unnecessary embarassment to the best sis in the whole wide world. Hahahaha sher, with that clause, I think I totally added an extra 50 points to my lame-o-meter. But anyhow, yes I finally realized that I shouldn't stick to being natural or blabla all that crap. I started using perfume, Gucci Rush, Givenchy Very Irresistible, Britney's Curious & Body Shop Moonflower. Don't worry, 3 out of 4 were gifts so I didn't exactly burn a hole in my purse YET. If u noticed, my MSN nick revolves around perfumes and it does have a double meaning, mind u (since hidden msgs are my favs).

5. Get a pair of boots and a nice black winter coat. Yes, can u believe it, after being here for a year, I haven't got any of those? I didn't realise I looked so ULU aka KAMPUNG aka VILLAGE until I sat down on the bench on Oxford Street and started watching people pass me by. My waterproof outdoor windbreaker and black trainers is so a turn-off. Come on charm, you're in London, the capital city of fashion. Get A Life! Go get some decent clothes like pronto!

6. Stop procrastinating, or at least, try?

7. Do my homework. As in cover my base before hitting the battlefield. Classic example : Northen Rock…Interview… ahhh dun remind me k. U catch my drift. And also homework homework. If I ever enrol in post-graduate studies…

8. Worry less, smile more, dun get too hyper like I alwiz do. My adrenaline system is faster than normal so I gotta keep myself calm. With asthma & post-operation syndrome seeming highly likely, I have to be careful at all times.

AT 1st I thought it was gonna be a gloomy Christmas & New Year's Eve this year, being far away from family & friends back home… But God is indeed great and He turned the situation around to make this winter one of the best Celebration ever! My ex high school mates Felicia & Wen Yen came over to London for hols, and boy, we had so much fun together it feels like teen-hood all over again! We couldn't make it home for our high school reunion few days before Christmas, and so we made our own lil Convent Green Lane (CGL) Reunion: UK edition !

On New Year's Eve, Jean, WY, Felicia, Amman, Tim and I went over to Tower Bridge to watch the bridge open and close and of course, being girls, we couldn't resist The Calling to cam whore a bit… We head on to Leicester Square to find Wagamama or some Italian restaurant, and gosh everywhere was packed, so we ended up eating Chinese food instead. It was cute watching Tim & Amman try to use chopsticks and Amman even tried seludup-ing one out for memories LOL !

After our late dinner, we ran to Westminster to try to find a spot to watch the fireworks & countdown… Somewhere in Trafalgar Square heading south, the road was blocked coz too many ppl were crowding the bridge… Darn.. we ran all the way through Fleet Street trying to catch a turning towards Embankment….

The fun is in the running through the streets and crowds, cheering & being crazy! U can see ppl playing music and singing in the streets, and we juz sing and dance along as we passed them… still keeping a distance from over-rowdy hooligans… I admire Felicia for running in her heels, salute to ya girl ! Wen Yen was being so 'seik cou' aka know what to do, darling I love u so much for dropping all those hints and the advices =) Ahhh why dun u come on over to stuuuudy here…. (To the tune of Valerie by Mark Ronson & Amy Winehouse)

Gosh there are dunno how many millions of ppl in London and out of the city plus those from all over the world who came over here just to catch the New Year celebration, London was absolutely jam packed man…

Anyway, we had so much fun, walking round even after the fireworks, taking pics at random places with random poses… eating nice warm £4 hot dogs... indulge in ice pops (yes on a winter nite), trying to get 'lost' in the lil forest haha… looking at giant spiders…taking more pictures =)

Interview Post-Mortem

Interview was alright. Did I just said alright? I actually meant it was CRAP on my side. Sigh dun say d la... Neway the whole thing was divided to assessment & interview. The assessment was like these…

1. Essay pick 1 out of 5. Crap almost everyone else did the 1^st one, "Describe a situation where u showed leadership skills blablabla n what did u learn from it". I pulak did the one that says, "The stand against job-hopping generated different views from employers n employees alike. State your view on the matter blablabla." I hope being different gives an advantage, though I can never be too sure about stg.

2. Maths questions… more on a particular company's performance n us calculating fairly ok stuff. Only problem is time pressure.

3. Analyse the passage and state whether the inference given is true, false, or not enough info to say. Very tricky n again time is the essence here.

As I only have 2 hours of sleep the nite before, honestly, I was so blur and worn out I went home and sleep for an hour before the next session. On the bus home though, I almost had tears coz every other contestant seemed so professional & intimidating, leaving me to look childish and immature. Almost all zee girls have their make-up on. Right on charm. Stupid of me to think that natural look will potray a better outlook. Duh charm. We're judged by looks.

Ooh ooh 1 thing that made me happy when I reached home was that I receive 2 christmas cards n a Christmas gift by special delivery. Thank you Junnie & Melissa for the thoughtful card and Kam Hoe for the wonderful pink heart-shaped chocolate gift-box. I LOVE PINK N I LOVE CHOCS!

We were talking about sleep. Yes. After waking up n lunch I then put some light make-up on, feeling confident a bit, and then head on to bond street to shop with Rahim & Yan. Hahaha shopping (look-see, not buy) few hours before the main interview to release tension from the intimidating board room.

Interview was hmmm challenging yet informational. My interviewer told me lots of stuff and I did learn new things so it's cool. Though I felt I wasn't matured enough to give professional answers, especially on the Northern Rock issue.

All in all, this interview open up my outlook on different things and I definitely learned some stuff that I never knew before… Plus I did have fun at the place and meet so many new friends that are sweet and lovely… Now I have more reason to go to Lancaster, Nottingham & Manchester =)

It's definitely an experience of a life-time!

Phew… it's all over… ACCA exams are all finished! At least until the results are out anyway... ( Fingers crossed ).

Moving on to my next move : MASS COMM !!

Hobby la I mean. I got hellova nagging from dad when I told him I had wanted or maybe just thought of contemplate switching fields.

Neway, post-exams fun fun fun begins! Typical of Charm to plan a whole list of stuff to do after the exams… Which she never even bother doing from past experience XD. Ok la now it's different coz she's a big girl now. And when u plan something, you have to work on it and not just sit around waitin' for the idea to collect dust, drifting away to never-land…

• Mon 17^th – 22^nd Dec : Travel to Sunderland & Newcastle woohoo
  
• After 22^nd : lots of Christmas plans but no confirmation YET
  

I should be excited but now I'm so worn out due to only 5 hours of sleep for the past week. I just opened my inbox and got 3 replies from PwC. One stating I got the call-back for an interview this sat. It was from PwC Human Capital Centre, asking me to scan my ACCA, CAT & SPM (O Levels) results and send to her wo...

Hmm wish me all the best fellas... coz i know too little about interviews and too much about un-related stuff... =D

Hmm I should be rejoicing a lot for everything but today, I'm just a bit annoyed, a bit frustated, a bit confused, a lot of burden, a really whole lot of tiredness and an even much more lot of wanting-to-go-home-coz-my-church-is-organizing-a-Christmas-ball-where-u-get-to-dress-up-as-a-celebrity-and-there's-gonna-be-emmy-awards-etc-so-it's-gonna-be-so-friggin-fun-coz-my-youth-so-rock-the-world.

Dear beloved readers….

Charm is gonna take a break from blogging…. For about 2 weeks…. Make that 1 n a half…

By then, exams will all be over n we can kiss ACCA goodbye! Hopefully la for my case. N those taking the final ones.

Today was Question Based Day for P2 Corporate Reporting. It was friggin bad I almost had tears at the end of the day. ( Ok I actually did when I finally reached home n collapsed on the bed ).

Amit was here for the QBD as well. Thank God he was here to chat with me bout other stuff to get my mind off studies a bit. Boogie woogie dance ( hope I get the spelling right ) seems cool =) . He was such a great big help in advising what I should do at last minutes like these and which questions I should try out n about time discipline. Thanks heaps =) If only we had this discussion on say, Aug or Sept. Or even Oct. Maybe things would turn out better. But now… sigh… Neways thanks once again for the pointers!

Ok I'm staying online much longer than I've allowed myself. Better go now… to all my bloggie friends…. Esp trish & jess… see u peeps after zee exams…. Woooop
